1. The Logline

FindReads is a discovery platform I'm building to connect you with the personal reading lists of the world's leading engineers, authors, and thinkers, offering a direct window into the minds that inspire me and shape our world.

2. The Problem: Drowning in Noise, Searching for Wisdom

I'm building FindReads because I've felt this problem personally. I live in an age of infinite information, but I've found that true wisdom is incredibly scarce. Every day, I'm flooded with articles, blog posts, and book recommendations from algorithms that feel designed for clicks, not quality. For someone like me, who is ambitious and curious, the key challenges are:

  • Information Overload: It feels impossible to know what's truly worth my limited time and attention. I'm constantly worried that the signal is getting lost in the noise.
  • Lack of Trust: How do I verify the quality of a recommendation? Generic "5-star" reviews and algorithmic suggestions lack the personal context and authority of an expert I genuinely respect.
  • My Discovery Bubble: I often find myself trapped in my own intellectual bubble, which makes it difficult to discover the cross-disciplinary knowledge that I know sparks real innovation.
  • The Aspirational Gap: I want to learn from the best, but it feels impossible. How can I understand the mental models of the people I admire most?

3. My Solution: Curation by the Curators

FindReads is my answer. I'm building it to cut through the noise by making human expertise the ultimate filter.

I'm creating a simple, elegant platform where the world's most respected minds can effortlessly share what they are reading—be it a timeless book, a groundbreaking scientific paper, an obscure blog post, or a classic novel.

For me, and for you, FindReads isn't just another recommendation app; it's a form of passive mentorship at scale. It’s a direct look at the intellectual diet of our heroes, helping us not only find what to read, but to understand how the best in the world think.

4. Who I'm Building This For

I see FindReads as a home for two groups of people:

  • The Readers (Like Me):

    • Lifelong Learners & Ambitious Professionals: Developers, entrepreneurs, designers, and scientists who are driven by a desire for continuous self-improvement and a competitive edge.
    • Voracious Readers & Bibliophiles: People who simply love books and ideas, and are looking for a community that values deep knowledge over fleeting trends.
    • Students & Academics: Anyone who needs access to high-quality, relevant material in their field of study.
  • The Curators (The People We Admire):

    • Established Experts: The bestselling authors, renowned scientists, and influential engineers I've always looked up to.
    • Niche Influencers: Respected figures within specific communities (e.g., a top AI researcher, a leading constitutional lawyer, a celebrated architect).

5. Core Features

For Readers:

  • The Curator Feed: A clean, uncluttered feed where you follow your chosen experts. Each post will include the recommended item and, crucially, a short personal note on why the curator is reading it.
  • Discover & Subscribe: I'll make it easy to explore curators by category (e.g., Technology, Physics, Philosophy) or to search for individuals.
  • Universal Library: A personal library where you can save any item—book, article, or paper—with tags like "To Read," "Currently Reading," and "Completed."
  • Deep Context: Each recommendation will include tags, a link to the source, and a space for community discussion.
  • Weekly Digest: A personalized email digest summarizing the best reads from the curators you follow.

For Curators:

  • The Curator Studio: A frictionless interface to share content. I want curators to be able to add a link, write a quick note, and post in seconds.
  • Browser Extension: A one-click extension so curators can share any article or book they find online directly to their FindReads feed.
  • Audience Connection: A simple way to engage with a dedicated audience that truly values their expertise.
  • Monetization Dashboard: A clear and simple dashboard to track subscribers and earnings.

6. My Vision: The Lighthouse for Knowledge

In a world drowning in information, I want FindReads to be your lighthouse.

I'm not trying to build another recommendation algorithm or a distracting social media platform. I'm building a trusted utility for the modern mind—a place where quality, authority, and genuine curiosity are the organizing principles. My vision for FindReads isn't just about finding your next book; it's about helping you discover the ideas that will shape your next chapter.
